Next, attach the vacuum to the skimmer or a dedicated suction line, making sure that it is securely attached. First, make sure that your swimming pool's filtration system is running before you begin vacuuming. it's important to follow a few basic steps. Robotic vacuums are self-contained units that move around it, cleaning and filtering the water independently of your swimming pool's filtration system. Automatic vacuums attach to your pool's filtration system and move around the swimming pool on their own, collecting debris as they go. Manual vacuums require you to do the work, attaching the vacuum to your swimming pool's filtration system and manually maneuvering it around the swimming pool. There are several types of vacuums to choose from, including manual, automatic, and robotic. If you have a lot of leaves or large debris, you will want a vacuum with a larger intake and debris bag. Additionally, the type of debris you need to remove will also affect your selection.

If you have a large pools, you may want to consider a more powerful vacuum with a larger debris bag or filter. The size of your swimming pool will determine the size and power of the vacuum you need. When selecting a pool vacuum, there are several factors to consider. It works by suction, removing dirt and debris from the bottom of the pool and depositing it in a filter or debris bag. It helps to keep the water clean and clear of debris, ensuring a safe and enjoyable swimming experience. Stopped using it when the cover started breaking down after about two years…that was may experience.A pool vacuum is an essential tool for swimming pool's maintenance. If the blue bubble wrap was left rolled on the crank for more then a day, then we had to take it off and scrub it.Īdditionally, we have a bit of hard water, so every few months I would roll up the cover piece by piece and scrub it. However, I found that is will algae bloom very quickly being that warm (probably obvious but just mentioning). The great thing about the blue cover was the water got into the 80’s. Could do it with one person but had to go back and forth on each side of the pool.

Unrolling was way easier with two people. We had to roll a few turns and then go down and make sure of no creases and then roll a bit and check again. One person can roll up the cover (the cover we used was the blue bubble wrap type). Our pool is kidney shaped so this is a factor… I purchased one that has a single crank and wheels on one end so when it is rolled up it is pretty easy to move. By the end of the last season, the solar cover was falling apart, so we’ll probably start this season by trashing the old solar cover and then deciding if we are going to deal with the hassle this year. We’ve contemplated removing the rail to make it easier. Removing it from being in the way in the shallow end means lifting it up over the rail. We bought the low profile version, but it’s still too tall with the cover to sit under the diving board. (Note: the friend who helped us set it up is a mechanical engineer who is exacting in his work).

We were pretty meticulous about setting it up right to begin with, but it’s possible we may have been an inch or two off somewhere that makes a big difference once you’ve started rolling it up. It has been such a pain to deal with rolling and unrolling with two people that we haven’t even tried using water pressure to operate it. The reel cover we have has plastic ends on casters, a hand crank, and a tube that connects to the garden hose for reel to roll and unroll itself powered using water pressure. I couldn’t find a link to the exact one we have. We bought a solar reel cover similar to this one. We have an in-ground 18x36 rectangular with rounded corners, a diving board and ladder in the deep end and a rail in the center of the steps in the shallow end.
